The Forney ISD School Funding Referendum is designed to impact every student & teacher in every part of our district.

The additional funds approved by voters will help pay for the following:

Increase pay for our teachers & staff

Our students are fortunate to have quality educators from teachers to classroom aides to bus drivers to custodians to many others. The Referendum will provide a 2023-2024 stipend for teachers and staff and allow for competitive raises in the future that will help the district recruit and retain quality educators in a competitive market and grow academic, fine arts, and CTE programs.

Hire armed police officers for every campus
Protecting our students and teachers is one of our top priorities. With voter approval, the School Funding Referendum will help maintain current safety programs, provide for additional security measures, and hire armed police officers for every campus to ensure student and staff safety during a police shortage. While House Bill 3 passed requiring every campus to have an armed security guard, the Legislature only partially funded the mandate with about $15,000 per campus.

Maintain small class sizes at all grade levels
Since our student population is growing, losing teachers to other higher-paying districts would result in fewer educators and larger class sizes. By providing funds to increase pay and benefits, we can retain high quality teachers and continue providing small class sizes with more personal attention for each student.

Grow college preparation & career training opportunities
As an innovator in education, Forney ISD is continually growing college preparation, job-skills training, and certifications in high-demand career fields. The Referendum will help maintain and grow career pathways and job training programs we offer while also expanding our partnerships with Texas Tech University and Dallas College.

Expand in-demand student programs

As our district continues to grow at a rate of 1,500 new students every year, the Referendum will provide the funds needed to continue and expand academic courses, dual credit offerings, athletics, fine arts programs, extracurriculars, and leadership opportunities our students need to succeed in college, career, and adulthood.
